Incorporating Important Stretching Exercises For Better Golf Game

Golf is an all-time favorite sport of many down through the generations, from young boys barely able to walk to elderly men who are barely able to walk! This famous game is one of strategy, yet many of us never realize the great physical ability that this game also requires of its players as well. Practicing a golf swing can be a very difficult assignment, causing strain and sore muscles to occur. Yet, with proper stretching exercises for golf, the swing and distance can be greatly enhanced, as well as the flexibility and overall energy level of the golfer themselves.

Reasons For Using Stretching Exercises For Golf

Many people who play a variety of sports find that stretching is too boring or is not really a necessary part of their practice and every day play. Yet, once an injury occurs, many begin to see its importance in recovery and prevention of another injury. So, the first reason to stretch before playing a golf game is to help you prevent a sprained shoulder or other muscle. When your muscles are more flexible and supple, you will not as likely injure yourself during golf sessions when there is a great deal of swinging involved. Stretching helps keep the muscles from tightening themselves into possible knots after a strenuous workout.

Another reason to use stretching exercises for your golf game is to eventually make you a better golfer with a wider range of motion. There is a lot of rotating action when someone takes a big golf swing, and lower backs can often be at risk of injury. Yet, when there is proper stretching of these muscles on a regular basis, they never have a chance of growing stiff with time, causing strains. Even stretching the hands is important for a golfer who is holding a club for long hours. The hands can become tired and fatigued, and stretching helps them to become stronger and durable.

Types of Stretching Exercises For Golf

There are several stretching exercises for golf that should be incorporated into a golfing routine. One stretch is to take one arm and wrap it across your chest with the opposite arm, holding on the elbow. This will stretch the upper arm and shoulder area, which is much used in golfing. Also, lifting the golf club above the head with both hands for ten to fifteen seconds is a good idea, stretching as high as you can the ceiling or sky, then rotating from one side to another, holding each side for approximately ten seconds. By implementing these simple stretches, great enhancements in your golfing ability may come your way sooner than you think!
