Stretching For Seniors ¨C A Path to Set Them Free

Come old age and you will find that all your the joints are paining and creaking whenever you want to do a little extra activity. All of a sudden, you realize the meaning of the saying, ¡°The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.¡± Hence, you tend to detach yourself from any vigorous work, which contributes further to the slowing down of the movement and flexibility of the body. Stretching is not the same as exercises. You will first have to understand the difference before you understand the benefits that it can give seniors. Stretching exercise are basically designed for warming up, for improving flexibility, for increasing the range of movement of limbs and for improving blood circulation. These usually are precluding the main exercises. Warming up the muscles makes it easier for the body to launch in strength and muscle building exercises.

When it comes to stretching for seniors, there is no better way to improve the quality of life. The seniors usually give up exercises or even routine movement because of the fear of the pain or injury. By giving it up, they literally shut down the body further. Due to their age, it is not possible for them to walk even reasonable distances at times for warming up. Hence, the best possible way to keep fit is by adopting a few stretching moves for seniors which can literally work wonders.

The program of stretching for seniors need not be long or cumbersome - just a few exercises that hardly take a few minutes and does not require any uncomfortable positions.
